Carl and Elsie fell in love 20 years ago while traveling, both of them feeling alive, creative, and present in the adventure of each day. Now they are in the planning stages of a dream that began then: they will be traveling around the world with their kids for a year. Leaving in July 2021, they’ll be heading out to explore Europe and Kenya, and other destinations TBD, including Southeast Asia, South and Central America, and/or other locations to be determined. Elsie will be doing some art residencies and courses of study while they go, and Carl will head up the project of educating their kids. To do this, Carl will leave his post as a Program Officer at the Carnegie Corporation of NY, where he has done meaningful and impactful work in Nuclear Security and Disarmament.
When they leave, Jasper will be 12, Lex will be 10, and Willa will be 6. Elsie and Carl will be a lot older than they were when they last traveled for months at a time. They are ready for mishaps and memories.
